Shimano Ultegra (£119.99)
Shimano Ultegra (£119.99)
We’ve picked Ultegra but in reality this could be 105, Ultegra or Dura-Ace depending on which pedals you currently use and what you’re looking to spend.
Consistency is the beauty of Shimano’s pedal line, and all three of these look very similar other than the name on the side.
Ultegra is the real sweet spot of the range, providing the best balance of spec and price. With an RRP of £119.99 they weigh in at just 260g for the pair – only 12g more than the £199.99 Dura-Ace pedals – and you have two choices of axle length as well, standard or 4mm longer which you don’t get with the cheaper 105s.
You’ll also save considerable weight by moving up to ‘named’ pedals in the Shimano range. The R550s are the highest end pedals outside of the named range and they tip the scales at 310g, so you’re saving a good 50g by stepping up to Ultegra.
