SealSkinz Neoprene Halo Overshoes (£40)
It’s not often the words ‘innovative’ and ‘overshoes’ are used in the same sentence but SealSkinz’s Neoprene Halo Overshoes are just that.
How come? Each overshoe is equipped with a four-lumen LED light at the rear with two modes (constant and flashing) – great for additional visibility in tricky conditions.
They’re not designed to replace a regular seatpost-mounted rear light by any means but in murky weather, when an overcast sky and driving rain means you need all the help you can get on the road, they’re a really useful, safety conscious addition.
Otherwise, the overshoes themselves offer decent protection from the weather thanks to a neoprene construction, reinforced heel and toe, and a reflective zip, placed on the side of the overshoe to help provide a secure fit. They’re not the warmest overshoes we’ve featured here in terms of windproofing, and we found our feet got chilly on really cold rides, but if you regularly ride at night, whether in training or while commuting, the LED lights on the Halos are a real boon.
