Of course, if you’re looking for the ultimate pedal upgrade, you’ll find that in the shape of a set of power meter pedals, of which the most prominent are Garmin’s latest Vector 2s.
But if you don’t want to fork out over a grand for the double-sided measurement, you can grab a set of the Vector 2S, the left-hand only baby brother, for £749.99.
Built around Exustar pedal bodies, the Vectors house the strain gauges in the pedal axle, meaning that the bodies themselves are fully replaceable – great in the long run because you can theoretically keep a set of these going for ages, way longer than the already substantial life of the carbon body.
Also, the Vector 2 comes with an easier to install and more durable pedal pod, which installs after the pedal now, removing the risk of cracking the pods which came with the original system.
If you’re not sold on Garmin’s system, Look still sell their power pedals, made in conjunction with Polar, and PowerTap have just released theirs too, so there are multiple options to choose from in the power pedal market these days.
