As you can imagine, the focus of this bike is on comfort, stability, handling and safety with performance seen as a bonus created by the sum of those parts. The bike features Cervélo’s own BBright bottom bracket which has been lowered, dropping the centre of gravity of the bike and improving stability.
One of the headline features is the 850g carbon frame on the top end C5, a number which makes the C5 one of the lightest disc brake ready bikes on the market. That top range model also features a Shimano Dura-Ace 9070 groupset coupled with R785 hydraulic brakes as well as clearance for up to 32mm tyres.
As well as the lowered bottom bracket, the C series also features longer chain stays and a taller head tube, making the bike classically endurance-ready. Although Cervélo say the bike won’t be appearing in the pro peloton next year, the new UCI rules on disc brakes mean that there’s always a chance you’ll see the bike on the road to Roubaix in April.
At the front, there’s a shallower 71.1 degree head tube angle and increased fork offset (53mm) as yet more tweaks to improve comfort, and the fork itself is Cervélo’s own Project California.
