Ronde, Ronde and Ronde we go...
Ronde, Ronde and Ronde we go...
The Ronde van Vlaanderen or Tour of Flanders is one of the highlights of the cycling calendar.
Every year hundreds of thousands of cycling mad Belgians pour out into the fields of Flanders to support their heroes battling round a 250km plus course dotted with fearsome cobbled climbs.
And with the race being won by a home rider 68 times, the Belgians are spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing heroes of the hellingen. This year, in the absence of Tom Boonen and Fabian Cancellara, there will only be one former winner signing on at the start in Brugge too – Stijn Devolder, winner in 2008 and 2009 – so there could well be a new hero to worship come Sunday night.
Picking the greatest moments in the history of a race like the Ronde is an almost impossible task, so instead we’ve picked some of our favourites from recent memory.
So whether you’re after a walk up the Koppenberg, wheelies up the Muur or a good, old-fashioned bit of Johan Museeuw, you’re in for a treat.
