The Hargroves rider won by nearly half-a-minute from defending champion, Paul Oldham (Hope Factory Racing), at Abergavenny.

The pair were joined by Jody Crawforth (Hargroves), national junior champion, Hugo Robinson (XRT-Elmy Cycles), and Luke Gray (Trek Cross Collective).

Oldham led the quartet in the early stages before Crawforth moved to the front. But when Field launched an attack on the fifth lap, it was the start of a remorseless assault that would ultimately lead to victory.

The Ashford rider will now focus on the Belgian Super Prestige series and the UCI World Cup.

The women’s race was won by Louise Robinson (Isla Bikes). The veteran rider displayed superb bike handling skills to move through the field and claim victory.

Adela Carter (Hope Factory Racing) finished second, some 1.17 behind Robinson, while local rider, Tamina Oliver (Abergavenny RC), was third.

Darren Atkins (Team Jewson) won the 40-49 race ahead of Ian Taylor (Craven Energy) and Rick Lister (RWD Brakes).

Phil Roach secured a second veterans’ victory for Team Jewson by winning his first national engagement in the over 50s category. Steve Davies (Southfork Racing) was second by four seconds. Mick Bell (London Fire Brigade CC) was third, just over two minutes back.

The action moves to Ipswich in a fortnight’s time for the second round of the series on November 2.
