Deda Zero 100 handlebar

A modern take on traditional design, encouraging more time in the drops

The Italians over at Deda Elementi aren’t short on confidence. Visit their website and you’re greeted with the assertion that Deda is not a brand at all, but a state of mind. Oh, and you’re already a winner just by knowing to visit said website.

We’d argue the real winners are those who arrived there via the RCUK 100, but that’s a discussion for a different day. For now, let’s focus on what makes Deda so confident: top-notch finishing kit.

With a client list including WorldTour teams Lotto-Soudal and UAE Team Emirates, ProConti outfits Bardiani-CSF, Androni-Giocattoli, CCC Sprandi Polkowice and Gazprom-RusVelo, and Women’s WorldTour teams like Wiggle-High5 and Ale-Cipollini, Deda are clearly doing something right.

And the Zero 100 is a great example of their modern take on traditional designs. The Zero 100 is Deda’s lightweight aluminium offering, made from a triple-butted 7075 alloy, and using Deda’s RHM shape.

RHM stands for Rapid Hand Movement and is for riders who want to switch from the tops to the drops, regularly and comfortably.

Deda have shortened the drop (130mm) and reach (75mm) of the ‘bar, while also offering their own patented take on the shape of the curve. It allows for super-quick changes in hand position, from tops to drops, while also allowing riders to make more of the drops.

Deda Zero 100 Handlebar

It’s the versatility and comfort served up by the Zero 100 which earns it a place in the RCUK 100, along with the stylish looks and reasonable price. At £82.99 (and available for much less), you’ll find few reasons to spend much more on a handlebar unless you’re chasing really low weight.

Available in five sizes from 38cm to 46cm, the handlebar weighs in at 248g in a 42cm, so it’s plenty light enough, and if RHM doesn’t sound like something you’d benefit from there’s also the more traditional Zero 100 Shallow and Zero 100 Deep ‘bars.

And if you like to keep your finishing kit on brand, there’s the Zero 100 Team 70 and Zero 100 Performance stems to choose from, along with the Zero 100 seatpost.
