Yet another variation on the “silicon-bodied quick-attachment mini light” theme, electron’s milli (we’re guessing on lower case lettering from the logo) USB rechargeable LED lights come in this useful twin pack complete with two USB port cables so you can charge both at the same time. Bought separately, the lights are priced at £19.99 each.
When prompted by the incorporated low battery indicator, the process takes about 2 1/2 hours and leaves the light with a run time, according to distributor Madison Cycles, of up to 11 hours. That would presumably be in the “flashing” mode common to both, with the rear adding “constant” and the front “constant high” and “constant low”.
Light output from the single LED is “super-bright”, for which read “unspecified but considerable for its size”. The lights are, of course, designed to make the user visible rather than to illuminate the road and they do their job well. The translucent casing material diffuses enough light to give good lateral visibility.
So, charged up, on they go. The front is shaped to drape over the handlebar centre bulge with a knob on the end of the elastic silicon strap hooking inside a notch and slot on the body. The result is sleek but not easy to dislodge for removal, since there is nothing protruding from the knob to grip with the fingers.
At the rear, the light is barrel-shaped with an indent that fits the seat post. The strap loops around a hook and is easy both to fit and remove. The barrel shape, however, sits a way out sideways and, set as low as possible on the post, occasionally touched the inside of the reviewer’s thigh.
Otherwise, the design of both lights is neat and purposeful, with large on/off buttons usable with winter gloves on.
