Endura FS260-Pro SL II short sleeve jersey – review

Super-light, comfortable, no-nonsense jersey with the same spec as Movistar kit

The Endura FS260-Pro SL II jersey is a super light, race-fit short sleeve jersey sitting towards the higher end of the Scottish brand’s range. Boasting the same spec as the jerseys used by world number one team Movistar, the Pro SL II offers a no-nonsense style and a comfortable fit, while packing in enough tech to make it ideal for a long ride.

We also tested the mid-range Hyperon jersey recently, and there are some notable differences when it comes to the FS260-Pro SL II. A racier, tighter fit does not mean more restrictive, however, and we found it was still well fitting – it’s just not as generous in the sizing. Furthermore, with ColdBlack fabric tech, there is a distinct improvement in reducing heat build up. The lightweight polyester material and full-length zipper also help to keep body temperature and moisture management under control.

Aimed squarely at road riding in hot summer temperatures, the jersey also features a raw-edge lycra cuff on the sleeves, with a silicone grip, and I found this combination sat well and flexed effectively when riding, with little movement to cause rubbing or irritation.

The main body of the jersey, meanwhile, is a regular polyester while the white under-arm panels are perforated to again help with heat regulation. A low-profile neckline keeps things close and sleek up top, with racing stripes and pin-stripe detailing making for one fast-looking jersey.

At the bottom, a wide hem ensures the jersey sits well at the front, while on the reverse the sturdier elasticated hem stopped anything in my pockets from swinging around.

Onto the pockets, you get the standard three plus a zippered fourth and also one extra pocket on the right side to allow you to load up for a long day in the saddle – the additional, lower pocket, is a good size for gels and a good location for quick-to-access food.

On the downside, the zippered pocket – though good for your valuables – does away with the water-resistant liner and hole for headphones you sometimes find elsewhere. It’s not a deal breaker, but when you’re riding in hot conditions it’s nice to have resistance to sweat, which is consequently missing on the Endura FS-260 Pro SL II jersey.

Finally, the full-length front zip is effective and cleanly integrated, with a fold-down closure. A nice, grippy rubberised finish on both the main zip and the rear pocket zip makes them easy to use.

Five rear pockets feature in all, though the zipped pocket for valuables is not water resistant

Conclusion

The Endura FS260-Pro SL II is a great-performing jersey, with a no frills approach, which has been cleverly put together with comfortable, grippy sleeves and a similarly grippy hem. Available in hi-viz green or white, if the red jersey we tested doesn’t take your fancy, it’s not unreasonably priced either and is an ideal super-light jersey for warm weather riding.

Pros

  • Comfortable, racy fit
  • Raw-edge lycra sleeves offer a good fit and very little movement

Cons

  • Rear valuables pocket does not feature a water-resistant lining
