Rain batters the peloton as Alberto Contador storms back to build up a big lead

Racing resumes at the Giro d’Italia today (Tuesday May 26), with Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) looking to defend his commanding overall lead on a day which includes the climb of the Passo Mortirolo.

El Pistolero bounced back from injury to – barring one slight blip where he lost the jersey for a day – take control of the Giro d’Italia and ensure the maglia rosa is in his possession – and with a big advantage of second-placed Fabio Aru too.

So how did the Spaniard do it, and what else did we get to enjoy during the second week of racing at the season’s first Grand Tour?
