Christian Vande Velde is among the Garmin-Barracuda riders who will use 3T’s computer-integrated Integra stem for the first time when the Giro d’Italia starts in Herning, Denmark, on Saturday.
Aluminium is usually the material of choice for stems in the pro peloton and Vande Velde is the first Garmin-Barracuda rider to adopt the Integra – on his road bike but not his time trial machine – with other riders likely to follow suit, according to 3T.
The Integra has been designed to integrate a Garmin Edge computer unit, “improving security, aerodynamics and appearance.” Clamp bolts are concealed by the shroud, which must be removed and replaced by the Edge R Stem Mount on which you can attach a Garmin Edge computer.
The stem will be available in the UK from June in 100, 110, 120mm lengths, with the 110m option weighing 135g. Retail price will be £259.99.
