Winter means an increased likelihood of wet weather, and for cyclists, another challenge.
Even tarmac surfaces can become slippery, and perfectly legitimate road features like painted lines and drain covers can be made treacherous.
Add to the permanent features of the road seasonal hazards like leaf litter and puddles, and the regular training loop can take on an entirely different – and more dangerous – aspect.
Over the following pages, we’ll consider the challenges of wet weather cycling, and methods of riding safely, despite what the weather brings.
You’ll have your own techniques too, of course, and if you’d like to share them, you can do so below, or in the RCUK Forum, where you’ll find a knowledgeable community of experienced cyclists.
