OK, so it’s a jersey – and there’s only so much to be said about wearing one. Even one as comfortable as Le Col’s Arcus Long-Sleeved Jersey. Make no mistake; it is comfortable. Comfortable to the point of going completely unnoticed on the bike and barely so off it. But then, any other size would have been a different matter; wearer comfort is largely a matter of finding the right size garment, no?
Oddly enough, the previous Le Col size large jersey sent for test proved slightly too tight to be ideal for this tester around the shoulders and chest, suggesting either that the Arcus fit is marginally more generous or that the fabric has more stretch available. Or both. Either way, there is plenty of room for the more substantial gentleman provided, as with all Le Col garments, the substance is not carried around the midriff.
So, a reasonably generous fit joins the stylish appearance noted in our first look and the host of features expected of a jersey at this price point. These include three standard rear pockets with an additional zippered security pocket, flat-lock seams for a smooth fit and, importantly, the super-thin Pontetorto Sportsystem TechnoWool fabric. According to Le Col this polyester, polyamide and Merino wool-mix fabric “washes and cleans repeatedly”, which is useful in a cycling garment. It does indeed scrub up well after a couple of urban commutes, retaining its Arctic whiteness and looking good for the same again.
