Lezyne Femto lights – review

Back-up lights can be darned handy.

They can be left strapped to your bike all year, or  in the bottom of your commute bag or desk drawer just in case you stay late unexpectedly or nip to the pub after work. This front and rear set from Lezyne, the Femto, fits the bill.

The super short, CNC machined aluminium cyclinder encases an LED pushing out 15 lumens that will help you be seen. Simply pushing the lens with a finger turns the light on, while additional prods cycle through other modes and turning it off.

These are not rechargeable lights and you will need to make sure that when the 30-60 hours are up you have a spare set of CR2032 batteries ready. These are readily and cheaply available online.

Mounting is as simple as the other lights we have from Lezyne at the moment. Curved mounting brackets are screwed onto the rear of the light (which acts as the access point to change the batteries), and a silicone band wraps around the handlebar, seatpost or wherever you choose to locate the lights. Weighing in at a sprightly 22 grams, their presence is unlikely to make itself felt on the handlebar.

These are handy, tiny and well made little units, and make for great emergency lights. They are certainly not standalone commuting lights, but do serve as nice extra illumination to help you be seen on our streets. They cost £21.99 a pair, or £12.99 each.
