Oli Beckingsale (Endura) will retire at the end of the season after racing professionally for 16 years.
The reigning National Trophy Series cyclo-cross champion will call time on a highly successful career after defending his ‘cross title.
Beckingsale, who last year also won the national cross-country mountain bike series, completing a rare double, will run BW Cycling with business partner, Andy Wadsworth.
He said: “I have had a great time during my career, with the highlights being three Olympic Games, and a Commonwealth Games silver medal, five national senior championship titles, and two top 10 finishes at the world championships.
“My motivation has always come from working hard to achieve new challenging goals. These future goals will now be off the race track.”
Beckingsale will retire at the top of his game. Last season’s CX and XC double had last been achieved by Barrie Clarke some two decades ago.
The Bristolian thanked his sponsors past and present, including his current backer, the Scottish clothing company, Endura.
Beckingsale will continue to work with the Livingston firm, testing and developing new products.
Endura boss, Jim McFarlane, thanked Beckingsale for his success in the team’s colours, and said the company looked forward to working with him as a tester.
“Oli has done a tremendous job for us as a pro rider, and he is a great guy to work with,” he said.
