Mat Hayman bags first Monument win at age of 37

Paris-Roubaix delivered another enthralling, unpredictable, action-packed race as Mathew Hayman wrote his name into the history books as only the second Australian ever to win.

The 37-year-old denied Tom Boonen a record-breaking fifth Paris-Roubaix win in the velodrome, with Ian Stannard matching the best British result ever by claiming third.

On a day which saw Fabian Cancellara bid farewell to the cobbled Classics, suffering a couple of spills as he did so, it was two other members of the old guard who ignited the race on the run-in to Roubaix.
