A star-studded line-up, including the biggest names in the history of cycling, came together in Vicenza, Italy, to celebrate Campagnolo’s 80th anniversary.

The guest list included Eddy Merckx, Greg Lemond, Miguel Indurain, Jan Janssen, Francesco Moser, Felice Gimondi, Gilberto Simoni and Vittorio Adorni, who won 33 Grand Tour between them, while Mario Cipollini, winner of 12 stages of the Tour de France and an astonishing 42 stages of the Giro d’Italia, also stopped by.

Each – except Cipollini, who was fashionably late – took to the stage to share their memories of their careers and of Campagnolo itself.

Merckx named his first Tour de France victory in 1969 as his greatest memory from a career which included more than 500 wins; LeMond described how, in his eyes, “Campagnolo was always number one”; and Indurain recalled his Giro-Tour doubles in 1992 and 1993.

Two of the most iconic bikes in the history of Campagnolo – Eddy Merckx’s iconic orange Molteni Colnago and the Pinarello Espada on which Miguel Indurain set his world hour record – took pride of place on the stage.
