Prendas Waterproof Cap update

Prendas Waterproof Cap

Back in March 2010, RCUK was slightly under- or over-whelmed – depending on how you look at it – by a piece of headwear from Prendas Ciclismo, a company that reliably turns out effective riding wear. Trouble was, the then-new Prendas Waterproof Cap turned out to be just a bit too effective for the conditions even though it was being tested at the tail end of a particularly long and cold winter.

With the recent deterioration in the conditions of late autumn, however, the Waterproof Cap has turned out to be a bit of a slow-burner. Too effective in mild conditions, it works a treat worn in cold November rain, when it is simply superb.

It is essentially a regular cloth road cap made using a waterproof Nylon material  backed with a thin layer of foam insulation inside to keep the wearer warm. Two small ventilation holes allow some air circulation and do a good job of preventing excessive moisture build up inside while the stiff peak keeps driving rain out of the eyes. It is conceivable that, when the temperature drops further, some sort of supplementary ear covering might prove desirable but, for now, this is where winter headwear is at.

Prendas Waterproof Cap; one size, white with black logos, £7.50 or can be bought as part of the Prendas four for £25 multi saver deal.
