Ribble simplify online bike builder with introduction of recommended builds

British brand's online bike builder now gives users the option of three specs, as well as fully-customisable bulds

Ribble Cycles have simplified their online bike builder with the addition of ‘recommended builds’ for every machine in the range.

Customers now also have the option of three pre-determined specifications, though the Lancashire-based firm’s advanced bike builder also continues to let users hand-pick every component on their bike if they want to.

Ribble have revamped their range for 2017, with a number of new models launched at the Cycle Show, including the updated R872 race bike, which will be available on the Ribble website from December 20, and the versatile CGR gravel/training/commuting bike.

The CGR, which is available now, starts from £799, with the first recommended spec priced at £975 with a Shimano Tiagra groupset and mechanical disc brakes. An upgraded spec comes with Shimano 105 and mechanical discs for £1,037, while to equip the bike with Shimano 105 and hydraulics stoppers costs £1,206.

Ribble say the introduction of recommended builds ‘simplifies the choice and makes the differences between components far more apparent, making for a much cleaner, simpler shopping experience.’

Matthew Lawson, Ribble Cycles’ chief digital officer, said: “We have long been extremely proud to offer customers the highest level of online bike customisation on the market. BikeBuilder V3 makes the tool easier to use, particularly for those newer to the sport and may be needing slightly more assistance in understanding what equipment is most suited to their needs and budget. There is also the customer who simply doesn’t require a full level of customisation.

“Both of these customers are catered for with the new platform and yet still have the option to choose key components including groupset, finishing kits and wheels from a refined ‘recommended’ selection of three.”

The latest version of the bike builder also introduces dynamic images, with the on-screen bike visual now a ‘what you see is what you get’ representation of the final product. For example, swap standard wheels on the Aero 883 to a set of deep section hoops and you can see how your final build will look, according to Ribble.

Lawson added: “This change is particularly significant. When upgrading a set of wheels or choosing a particular colour bar tape, you naturally want to visualise the final product before it arrives. Now you’ll have something you can print off and lust after between completing your final order and the bike arriving on your doorstep.”
