Shane Sutton has an enviable coaching track record and his previous pupils include two Sirs – Bradley Wiggins and Chris Hoy.
The Australian, who won the Milk Race and Commonwealth Games road race during an earlier career as a professional rider, is head coach at British Cycling and a performance advisor at Team Sky, and played an integral part in Wiggins’ 2012 Tour de France victory.
