Strava provides a fascinating insight into how we ride – and, also, how the rest of the country and world rides, with approximately 100,000 new global users signing up each week and millions of cyclists logging data.
And, with 2014 turning to 2015, Strava have released a series of stats which paint a revealing picture as to life on two wheels, worldwide and, more specifically, here in the UK.
Last year, Strava users clocked up 2,700,000,000km (that’s two billion, seven hundred million kilometres) across the globe over the course of 75,700,000 rides.
UK riders, meanwhile, logged 521,189,000km – with 96,000 of those rides being at least 100 miles in length. The average ride was 41km, while Sunday June 8 was the busiest cycling day of the year. Remember those heady days of summer?
Let’s take a look at more of the superb Strava stats from the year that was 2014 – and, if you want to put together your own highlights reel of the year, you can do that here: 2014story.strava.com
