Team Sky get special Roubaix bikes

Specially prepared for Paris-Roubaix this weekend

For Paris-Roubaix, taking place this weekend, we usually get to see some interesting modifications to the bikes and equipment to give riders the edge, and Team Sky is no exception.

A new Pinarello KOBH 60.1 has been prepared especially for the Hell of the North, and while based on the standard-issue Dogma 60.1 and using the same 60HM1K carbon fibre from Torayca, there are some subtle differences.

The geometry has been fettled with, and dubbed ‘CenturyRide’, and is essentially intended to give the riders a smoother ride over the large and uneven cobbles by introducing slacker seat and head tube angles, a longer head tube and increased fork rate.

Of course, Pinarello claims to have made a frame that is more comfortable to ride without compromising the lateral stiffness, which is said to be identical to the Dogma 60.1.

Another important consideration is space for the wider tyres that are often preferred, and here the KOBH 60.1 has room for 28mm tyres.

Team Sky will have the new KOBH 60.1 bikes in action this weekend while the bike will be offered for sale in two different versions; one that will accept any component groupset and a model with internal routing for the Shimano Di2 gruppo. Both versions will be available at Pinarello dealers in July.
