Team Sky’s Pinreallo Dogma bikes revealed

Earlier this year Team Sky announced that Pinarello had stepped forward to supply bikes for the new squad, and this week the first photos of the actual team bikes have been released.

Pinarello will outfit Bradley Wiggins and the rest of the team with the top-end Dogma 60.1, a full carbon frameset specced with Shimano Di2 electronic groupset, Shimano Dura-Ace wheels and Pinarello’s own MOST contact points.

The Dogma is an evolution of the successful Prince and uses an asymmetrically designed frame, meaning that the tube shapes and profiles differ on the right hand side of the frame. For, instance the right leg of the fork is larger and more angular, the right seat stay is larger with extra reinforcing carbon layers, and the right chainstay is thinner at the bottom bracket and larger at the dropout. Meanwhile, the left chainstay is thinner at the dropout and larger at the bottom bracket. It’s constructed with Torayca 60HM1K carbon and claimed to weigh about 950g.

It’s good news for Pinarello who already enjoy high profile exposure with the Caisse D’Epargne team. It’s not yet clear whether Pinarello will supply bikes for both teams, but it is most certainly likely it will. It is no stranger to supplying bikes to several teams, not so long ago Pinarello supplied three top teams with bikes (Fassa, Deutsche Telekom and Banesto in 2002/3).

For riders wanting to ride a replica team bike, it looks as though Pinarello will offer a more affordable Prince in similar colours to those found on the team Dogma.
