While the GPS bike computer market has never had more competition, with both Lezyne and Wahoo among the brands to throw their hats into the ring this year, alongside established players like Mio and Bryton, it’s Garmin who hold an iron grip on all things GPS.

The growth in the computer market has come hand-in-hand with the rise of Strava, and while the app can be used direct from a smartphone, many riders prefer to have a dedicated GPS unit strapped to their stem to record and display data.

Garmin’s computer range has also grown significantly this year, with the launch of no less than four computers: the Edge 20, Edge 25, Edge 520 and Edge 1000 Explore. The current line-up now runs to eight models, split into four ranges: recreational (Edge 20 and 25), exploration (Edge Touring, Edge Touring Plus, Edge Explore 1000), competitor (Edge 520) and performance (Edge 1000). The Edge 810 seemingly doesn’t have a home in the line-up but is still part of the Garmin Edge collection.

Each computer comes to the party with a range different features, functions and options, from basic data to turn-by-turn navigation, with prices to reflect that and all aimed at different types of cyclists.
