Genesis Bikes have launched their first carbon fibre frame – the Zero.
More than 18 months in the making, the Zero – which will make its race debut at the Tour of Britain next month, piloted by the Madison-Genesis team – forms a range of six models.
The Zero Team will sit alongside the steel bike which has been used by the Madison-Genesis team since its inception in 2013, the Volare 953, and, according to the Milton Keynes-based brand, will give the squad’s riders more choice depending on the race and terrain faced, with the Volare 953 said to remain the bike of choice in the Tour Series and the Zero the likely option for stage races.
The sub-kilo Zero frame, which will be used throughout the range, has been designed to be used by the team in stage races and is said to combine comfort with the characteristics of a race bike.
The frame is designed to take a 27.2mm seatpost and has pencil-thin seat stays – two features said to improve comfort. Meanwhile, a large Kammtail aero-profiled downtube has been used to boost the frame’s stiffness and, along with the integrated crown on the custom, carbon fibre fork, improve the Zero’s aerodynamic prowess.
Two of the six models are available now – the entry-level Shimano Tiagra-equipped Zero.1 for £1,299.99 and the top-of-the-range Shimano Dura Ace-equipped Team, which also has Dura-Ace C24 wheels, at £4,499.99.
The rest of the range – with a Shimano 105 mix at £1,499.99, full 105 at £1,699.99, mechanical Ultegra for £1,999.99 and Ultegra Di2 for £2,999.99 – will be available from the end of August. You can see the full range in the gallery at the bottom of the page.
Genesis say they have invested in their own carbon fibre moulds to ensure quality control from design to manufacture and subsequently offer the Zero with a lifetime warranty.

“This gives the public and the Madison-Genesis team a full choice of frames, which excel in different environments – the Volare will continue to be used in next year’s Pearl Izumi Tour Series whilst the Zero will be used in stage races, such as the Tour of Britain.
“We are really proud with how Zero has turned out. The only way this project could be viable was by doing it our way, with the brand principles we believe in.
“We have invested heavily in developing our own tooling and moulds to ensure this bike is exactly how we intended it to be. We believe strongly in the Zero, which is why we will be offering a lifetime warranty on all Zero frames.”
