Chris Froome finished stage 19 of the 2016 Tour de France on a team-mate’s bike, battered and bloodied from the effects of a crash on a slick descent – but the Team Sky man is now four minutes clear overall.
Cycling can be a cruel mistress, and Bauke Mollema’s crash sent him tumbling out of the podium places and down the general classification.
The beneficiary was stage 19 winner Romain Bardet, who climbed to victory on Mont Blanc to end the French wait for a stage win in the 2016 edition and moved second overall.
