Tour de France 2016: stage 19 – photo gallery

Wet roads, crashes and a GC shake-up as Mont Blanc proves it's not over 'til it's over

Chris Froome finished stage 19 of the 2016 Tour de France on a team-mate’s bike, battered and bloodied from the effects of a crash on a slick descent – but the Team Sky man is now four minutes clear overall.

Cycling can be a cruel mistress, and Bauke Mollema’s crash sent him tumbling out of the podium places and down the general classification.

Not how Chris Froome planned on ending the day… but he did stretch his overall lead (pic: Sirotti)

The beneficiary was stage 19 winner Romain Bardet, who climbed to victory on Mont Blanc to end the French wait for a stage win in the 2016 edition and moved second overall.

It all just goes to prove, it ain’t over ’til it’s over… relive a dramatic penultimate day in the mountains in the gallery below.
