Tour de France 2016: stage four – photo gallery

Marcel Kittel edges Bryan Coquard to win first stage of 2016 Tour

Marcel Kittel (Etixx-QuickStep) sprinted to his first victory of the 2016 Tour de France, edging out Bryan Coquard by the narrowest of margins to win stage four.

Another long, flat stage with a sprint finish expected, the stage was played out at a faster pace than the day before, but the sprinters would not be denied another shoot-out.

And Kittel emerged victorious – though it took a photo finish to show he was no more than the thickness of his tyre wall ahead of Coquard at the finish line.

Relive the stage through the lens of UCI WorldTour photographer Stefano Sirotti below.
